Battery recycling at the Papieri site in Biberist
A state-of-the-art battery recycling plant is being built at the Papieri site. This plant will soon be fully operational and pave the way for a more sustainable future.
Librec’s business idea is in perfect sync with the pulse of the times: a circular economy in which Librec, with its closed high-tech process, achieves a recovery rate of 95–98% of all critical recyclables from batteries, such as nickel, lithium and cobalt (including graphite in a world first). The whole process works without any incineration, melting or hazardous waste.
It’s very simple: mutual trust and understanding. Trust in the support provided throughout the relocation process and understanding of the needs of a young, innovative company in the environmental technology sector like Librec. These were the primary factors in gaining this important relocation for Solothurn as a business location.
But the most important point is this: Librec is committed to sustainability. It was therefore a priority for the company not to build their production facility on a greenfield site but to reuse an existing industrial site instead. No problem: the Librec production hall is being built on the old Papieri industrial site. This will soon become a national recycling centre in the Canton of Solothurn.
